UKCA FOR FACTORY PRODUCTION CONTROL – UAE, OMAN, SAUDI ARABIA

In the wake of the UK exit from its membership in the EU, UKCA marking is replacing CE markings as a way to show compliance with the specifications for product. This applies to a variety of products, however in particular construction materials that are crucial to providing the secure and reliable building environment that will be the norm in the future.

As with the CE markings prior to it was introduced, similar to CE mark before, UKCA for Factory Production Control will appear visible placed on products. In the case of many of our building products, the mark will be visible on product labels or test certificates, and sometimes printed on the item itself. The logo is supported by the Declaration of Performance (DoP) as well as a Factory Production Control (FPC) certificate.

The manufacturers of construction materials that are subject to European norms are obliged to establish a Factory Production Control process in place in July 31, 2013. The requirement for FPC is a consequence of the necessity for CE marking that must be in place to fulfill the fundamental specifications in the Construction Products Directive. There are a myriad of different evaluation systems that are identified to be used for CE marking, a single condition is required for all of them, and that is the written FPC system.

UKCA  Certificate was adopted as the standard method of certification starting on the 1st January 2021. However, there is a period of transition that CE markings will be recognized as an alternative. The transition period has been extended until the 31st of December 2022 due to the difficulties in obtaining the UKCA mark for certain products, however a lot of products already carry this UKCA mark.
