UKCA FOR PACKAGING ITEMS IN UAE, OMAN, SAUDI ARABIA

The UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) marking is a fresh UK product marking that is used to identify products that are put into the marketplace within Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). It covers the majority of goods that were previously subject to CE marking, also known as “new approach” goods. The UKCA marking was implemented January 1, 2021.

Note: Another aspect to consider for companies is the UKCA Certification Cost required to acquire an “UKCA” mark, which according to FT is PS500 per product to obtain the safety label. This happens even though most of the time it offers little in the way of a marked differentiating in comparison to the CE mark, which is accepted to the other regions of Europe. The UKCA label should not be used on products unless there’s an express requirement to do it in the law. The product can be marked with additional markings or marks, so long as they meet the following requirements:

• Serve a different purpose than the UKCA marking
• They are unlikely, not to be confused with the UKCA marking.
• They do not affect the visibility and legibility of the UKCA marking.
